Seizures
What is a seizure? Well a seizure is a change in the brain caused by an electrical disturbance. There’s several kinds of seizures like the grand-mal, petit-mal, and epilepsy. Based on the type of behavior and brain activity, seizures are also divided into two broad categories, generalized and partial also called local or focal. Classifying the type of seizure help Doctors diagnose whether or not a patient has epilepsy.Generalized seizures are produced by electrical impulses from throughout the entire brain. There are six types of generalized seizures. In a partial seizures are produced by electrical impulses in a relatively small part of the brain. The most common and dramatic generalized convulsion is also called the grand-mal seizure. In this type of seizure a person will lose consciousness and usually collapses, the loss of consciousness is then followed by body stiffening, then by violent jerking and after the person will go into a deep sleep called the after seizure phase. During grand-mal seizures injuries and accidents may occur like tongue biting and urinary incontinence. Epilepsy is caused when there’s a sudden burst of electrical energy in the brain.
When a person that has seizures the brain is not considered a normal working brain or healthy at times. Someone that suffers from seizures will never be medication free they will always take some kind of medication. Seizure disorder cased by electrical discharges from brain cells, often happen in the cerebral cortex, it’s not a distinct disease. Seizures are either secondary to a particular brain abnormality or neurological disorder or are said to be “idiopathic” without any clear cause. Is said by a neurologist on “neurology channel. Com.”
There should be more information on his disorder and also more studies on why people have this disorder and to study the brain a little more that’s what I think. Yes the brain is one of the most important origin in the human body, and also the hardest origin to study. So I ready hope that in the near future there will be more answers to a lot questions that have to do with this brain disorder.
Seizures is a disorder that effects the brain in more then one way, neurologist should study the brain more closely so that they could fine a more normal way for people to live when they have a seizure disorder or epilepsy. Even though neurologist study the brain they can’t pin point the exact reason or what causes the brain to have seizures. Some people are born with this disorder and it’s not know why it’s just a malfunction of the brain when other start to suffer from this disorder after having some head trauma.
Living with someone that suffers from seizures makes it hard at times. Can’t always do what we want we always have to see if it won’t effect my daughter in anyway and I have to always remember to give her, her medications. Even when she’s playing I always have to keep an eye on her so that she doesn’t fall and hit her head because she might not have a seizure right there and then but she could have a seizure hours later. Lack of sleep will higher the risk of my daughter having a seizure. Stress will even cause her to have seizures and she’s only ten years old and she will have to live with this disorder for the rest of her life. Her seizures were brought on after being hit by a truck when she was three year’s old and she had lots of head trauma. I’m very lucky to still have her around Doctors didn’t think she was going to make it, and when she made it they told me she will have learning disabilities. They were also wrong she does very good in school she’s in GATE. The only thing now is that she suffers from seizures and takes medication on a daily basis.
